smashed cheeseburger
Smashing the patty against the cooking surface creates a rich, caramelized crust while keeping the inside tender. Lightly toasted buns and melted cheddar complete this mouthwatering classic.
For a bolder flavor, mix roughly chopped beef into the ground meat before shaping the patties.

Ingredients
2 servings
7 oz ground beef (2 patties)
2 burger buns
2 slices tomato (¼ inch thick)
2 slices cheddar cheese
Butter, as needed
Oil, as needed
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
|
Sauce 3 tbsp mayonnaise 1 tbsp ketchup |

Directions
- Set the temperature control dial to 400°F and warm the clad plate. Lightly knead the ground beef and divide into two equal patties, approximately 5cm in diameter. Place butter on the buns and set aside.
- Once heated, place the buns buttered side down on one side of the plate. On the other side, add oil and place the patties.
- Firmly press down on the patties with a spatula. The sizzling sound means the crust is forming. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then flip.
- When the buns are toasted, remove them from the plate. Top the patties with cheddar cheese and cover with a stainless steel lid for 1 minute to melt.
- Assemble by layering tomato slices on the bottom buns, followed by the patties and sauce. Close with the bun tops.
